Gastroenterological Medicine

We will provide treatment to reduce the pain and burden on patients as much as possible.

We perform less painful endoscopic procedures using an analgesic drug.

Generally, endoscopy, usually called gastric camera or colon camera, is a typical test to which almost everyone has a sense of rejection to some extent. We use an analgesic drug (intravenous injection of midazolam) according to the patient’s request to reduce pain as much as possible. We also perform one-day endoscopic surgery to resect colorectal polyps.
Please note that the use of analgesic drug or one-day endoscopic surgery may be prohibited according to the drugs you are currently taking or your past disease history. Please consult with your physician.

Objectives of the Department of Gastroenterological Medicine

We put emphasis on the following three points when treating patients.

1. Always recognize correct diagnosis and treatment as the
    fundamentals of medicine.

It is natural that correct diagnosis leads to correct treatment.
We put the greatest emphasis on correct diagnosis using various tests including endoscopy, ultrasonography, CT, MRT, PET-CT, etc.

2. Preferentially use less painful, fast, and reasonable tests
    as much as possible.

We adjust treatment schedules to reduce waiting time and perform tests promptly.
Among other things, endoscopy using the analgesic to reduce pain has been highly evaluated.
(Since we have received many inquiries about our endoscopic procedure, we will explain it again.)

3. Implement team medical care from the viewpoints of
disease treatment, nutrition, rehabilitation, and social environments.

As society is increasingly aging, patients often have difficulty in visiting hospitals and daily living after discharge.
We aim not only to treat diseases but also to use holistic medicine in cooperation with our Group’s hospitals, healthcare facilities for the elderly, home-visit nursing stations, etc. We also place great emphasis on collaboration with local medical facilities.

Contents of treatment

The Department of Gastroenterological Medicine provides medical care for patients with gastrointestinal disease in the esophagus, stomach, colon, etc., and hepatobiliary pancreatic disease in the liver, bladder, and pancreas. We can offer a wide range of medical services including the treatment of frequently observed abdominal pain and diarrhea, secondary tests for abnormalities pointed out in health examinations, endoscopic resection of colorectal polyps, and anticancer drug treatments (chemotherapy).
Among other things, we focus on endoscopic therapy and cancer chemotherapy for polyps and early cancers.
For endoscopic therapy, Digestive Disease Center of Showa University Northern Yokohama Hospital has collaborated with us to send their physicians to our hospital. For cancer chemotherapy, our qualified physicians are on duty at our well-equipped Outpatient Chemotherapy Center so that the patients can receive the latest chemotherapy safely and comfortably.
